WATERING
Be sure to give your new sod 1/2″ or more of water within the first 1/2 hour of installation. After that, the lawn should receive 1/2″ to 1″ of water every other day, until it is well rooted, which normally takes 10 to 14 days. Weather conditions may dictate modifications of these amounts, but the goal is to maintain adequate moisture during this critical rooting period.
After a couple of weeks, scale back on watering to just once or twice a week, making sure your lawn has enough moisture to survive extended dry periods.
Remember that areas near driveways and buildings are more likely to show stress due to reflected heat and may require additional water. During the first few weeks, avoid heavy or concentrated traffic on your new lawn, as this may cause slippage and tracking.
